The identity of a police constable whose internet diaries lifted the lid on modern-day policing has been revealed for the first time by the BBC.

His name is Stuart Davidson and his blog, The Policeman's Blog, is listed in my blogroll. It's a shame Mr Davidson is leaving the UK although I can certainly understand why he is quitting the British force (to join the police in Canada) with everything he has to say about the way police work is done here.

Speaking openly for the first time, he told Panorama he was frustrated with bureaucracy and paperwork.

Panorama ("the longest-running current affairs television programme in the world"), features Mr Davidson tonight on "Wasting Police Time" to be broadcast on BBC One at 2030 BST.
